Otaki Early Learning child care centre

Otaki Early Learning Centre is a purpose built centre catering for children from birth to five years old.

Our centre is divided into two areas- under two year olds and over two year olds both providing quality programmes based on children’s individual interests.

We are the only centre offering a full day programme from 8am to 5pm in Otaki. We have a centre van which we use regularly and we have fortnightly visits to the Paraparaumu gymnastic club among many other excursions which include walks to the park and visits to our local library.

Meet our childcare teachers...

Head Teacher
Kia ora, my name is Shelley and I am a fully registered teacher with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I joined the staff at Ōtaki Early Learning Centre in July 2013 and am enjoying my time here getting to know the tamariki and their whānau and being part of the teaching team. My two tamariki and I have lived on the Kāpiti Coast for many years and enjoy the relaxed lifestyle the Coast has to offer. Our interests revolve around spending time outdoors camping, hiking, playing sports, enjoying our beautiful beaches, and spending time with family and friends. No reira, tēna koutou katoa – Shelley.

Kia ora. Ko Donna ahau. I trained as a Primary School teacher many years ago and worked in that sector for several years before having a family. Now that they are grown up I upgraded to Early Childhood Teaching through Massey University. I love the challenge of working alongside the younger children who constantly amaze me with their knowledge which means their parents are doing an awesome job as their main teachers. Kia kaha! Keep it up!

Mabuhay! I am Anaissa Beleno and I graduated in 2008 with a 3 year Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Earlychildhood Education from De La Salla University Manila, Philippines. My first teaching experience was back in Manila SY 2009- 2010 . It involved a class in a Montessori School setup. Afterwards, from June 2010- 2012 I found myself in New Zealand doing long term relieveing in most parts of Wellington. In February 2013, I joined the OELC team as I commit to grow in my career in full time teaching.

Ko Tararua te maunga Ko Otaki te awa Ko Tainui te waka Ko Ngāti Raukawa tāku iwi Ko Ngāti Pare tāku hapu Ko Whaea Treeza tāku ingoa. Kia ora… My name is Whaea Treeza and I am the Head Teacher of the Infants and Toddlers room here at Otaki Early Learning Centre. I have worked here for 2 years but have been teaching for over 15 years and I received my Bachelor of Teaching from Victoria University in 2001. I take the daily Kapa Haka sessions we have as well as visiting our sister centres Wise Owl and Waikanae Beach Kids where I take a weekly Kapa Haka session with them. I love working with the babies and toddlers as they are so much fun and have so much to share about their world. They are so inquisitive and just want to explore and discover new things. In my spare time I love hanging out with my 8 year old niece and 7 month old nephew, cooking, spending time with family and friends, reading and listening to music. Come on into our warm and welcoming centre and check out the Paua room for the Infants and Toddlers. No reira, téna koutou katoa -Treeza
